Do you have a garment that tells a story? A suit of armor forged in the fires of your own creativity? The Faerie & Fantasy Faire Costume Contest is your chance to showcase your incredible artistry on the main stage of Thornwood Isle.
Whether you are a seasoned master of the needle or a clever curator of found treasures, we want to celebrate the magic you bring to life!
Contest Details

The Main Event: Saturday, March 28th at 3:30 PM.

The Pre-Judging: Saturday morning starting at 10:30 AM.
Note: All contestants must participate in pre-judging to be eligible for prizes. You will receive an email one week before the Faire with your specific time slot and secret judging location.

Information for Little Sprites (Under 12)
Younglings do not need to pre-register! Our Kids’ Costume Parade will take place at the start of the main contest at 3:45 PM. Just gather at the stage 10 minutes prior. Every participant in the kids' parade will receive a special gift from the Fae to take home!
Categories & Prizes
We are looking for excellence across the realm! There will be individual category prizes, plus the highly coveted Best in Show. You are not confined to a single category—bring us your best!

Faerie and Fae: For the winged, the whimsical, and the ethereal.

Period Costumes: Historic attire from across the ages.

Warriors: Knights, Vikings, and defenders of the realm.

Magic and Sorcery: Wizards, witches, and practitioners of the dark arts.

Animals and Creatures: The wild things, from dragons to forest beasts.

Self-Made: A special nod to those who crafted their entire look from scratch.

Everything Else: For the unique creations that defy classification!
Note: Categories may be adjusted based on the wonders that register!
The Judge’s Eye
Our panel will be evaluating entries based on four pillars of excellence:

Overall Impact: How does the costume impress or command attention?

Attention to Detail: The "little things" that make the character real up close.

Craftsmanship: The quality of the build, stitching, or fabrication.

Creativity: Originality and the "spark" behind the design.
