Trinket Trading: A Magical Exchange
(and Important Guidelines)

Step into the spirit of adventure and connection with Trinket Trading, a beloved tradition at fantasy festivals and Renaissance Faires! This enchanting activity invites you to share a piece of your own magic and discover treasures from fellow attendees.

What is Trinket Trading?

Trinket Trading is a simple yet delightful exchange of small, whimsical items. It's a way to connect with others, spark conversations, and add a touch of serendipity to your festival experience. Think of it as a treasure hunt where everyone is both a seeker and a giver.

Who Can Participate?

Trinket Trading is an optional activity open to everyone at the Faire, including attendees, vendors, staff, and performers.

How Does it Work?

-
Bring Your Trinkets: Gather small, enchanting items to trade. These can be anything from:
-
Shiny stones or crystals
-
Handmade charms or pendants
-
Tiny toys or figurines
-
Buttons or pins
-
Small, unique found objects
-
Anything that sparks joy and embodies the spirit of the Faire!
-
-
Seek Out Fellow Traders: Keep an eye out for others carrying small pouches, displaying trinkets, or simply looking friendly and approachable.
-
Offer and Exchange: Ask if they'd like to trade! Show them your trinket and see if they have anything that catches your eye. The exchange is meant to be fun and spontaneous.
-
Embrace the Magic: Each trinket carries a story, and each trade is a moment of connection. Enjoy the experience of sharing and discovering unique treasures.
Trinket Trading Guidelines:
-
No Selling: Trinkets cannot be sold. Only vendors who have paid for spaces are permitted to sell anything on-site at the event.
-
Small and Portable: Choose trinkets that are easy to carry and trade.
-
Unique and Meaningful: The more personal and unique your trinkets are, the more memorable the exchange will be.
-
Be Respectful: Always ask before offering a trade.
-
No Refusals: If you choose to participate as a "trinket trader," you cannot offer a trade, then back out. Telling a fellow trader that their trinkets aren't good enough to trade with is bad trading etiquette and sours the experience. Put emphasis on giving and interacting with people, not getting a better deal.
-
Spread Joy: Trinket trading is about sharing smiles and creating connections.
-
Have Fun! The most important thing is to enjoy the experience and make it enjoyable for others in return.
Trinket Trading is a wonderful way to immerse yourself in the vibrant community of the Faire and create lasting memories. So, gather your treasures, open your heart, and prepare for a magical exchange!
